How we work
01
Step 1Initial Briefing and Explanation
We hold in-depth meetings with clients and local team members regarding the schedule, shooting theme, location, local needs and identify any potential issues that may arise during the project. Utilizing our network that extends to more than 100 countries around the world, we then arrange for professional coordinators, field producers, location managers, technical staff and translators who speak Japanese and/or English. In addition, a full-time Nippon Production manager fluent in Japanese is allocated to each project to provide backup support in case of urgent issues.
02
Step 2Understanding Project Goals and Budgeting
Once we have an understanding of the project details and the introduction of local staff has been completed, we start planning and estimating cost. We confirm with our clients about their budget before the project to see how we can realistically proceed and try to arrange for a local producer who speaks Japanese. However, in some countries, a Japanese speaker with production skills may not be available. In such cases, we may suggest arranging for a Japanese translator and a more experienced English-speaking professional.
03
Step 3Planning and Permissions
After confirming the project outline and needs, our local team, coordinated by our production manager, will begin preparations for production. We mostly communicate through email, LINE, and WhatsApp.
04
Step 4Filming
We usually arrange a pre-production meetings before production projects to make sure all parties and project members follow the same level of understanding and are all on the same page. At this time, the production manager will review the budget and customize the project for any last minute changes. After production, we will fact-check, send additional information, liaise with local collaborators and distributors and ensure that everything is finalized as it should.
05
Step 5Post-Filming Support and Budget Adjustment
After the project is completed, we will fact-check, gather additional information, and create extra footage if necessary. In addition, we perform administrative tasks and final checks on the budget.
